Join sources, not just tables
Sales in Excel, stores in a CSV export, customers in PostgreSQL. Drag from a column to a column, and Tenun writes the joins. It suggests the likely links and checks them against the data.
Tenun is a free dashboard app that runs on your computer. Draw a line between an Excel column and a database column, and every chart can use both.

Click a bar, a share or a row. Every other chart filters to it, even when its data comes from another source. Add a filter tile for a list, a dropdown or a date range.
Save the Excel file and the dashboard updates. Databases refresh on an interval you choose. Nothing is copied to a server.
Half of October is compared with the first half of September, not with all of it. Unfinished periods are drawn dashed and labelled. No pies, no donuts, no gauges.
No colour pickers, no font menus. A fixed palette checked for colour blindness, in light and dark mode. You cannot make it ugly.
Send a dashboard as a single file. It opens offline in any browser, and click-to-filter still works. You can also save a picture or a PDF, or the numbers of one tile as CSV or Excel.
Each table is a card. Each relationship is a line. The dot marks the side with unique values, like an ID. If neither side is unique, Tenun refuses the link, because the totals would be counted twice.
Tenun starts with the charts an Excel user knows: bars, lines, areas, scatter, histogram, waterfall and pivot tables with totals. Keep the top 5 and group the rest as Other. Show a value as a share, a running total or a change. Add a target and a trend line. Clean a messy sheet, turn months into rows, read a whole folder of files, or read a web link to CSV or JSON data.
One free switch, Advanced features, adds heat maps, funnels, box plots, bullet charts, Sankey, calendar, cohort and Gantt charts, and small multiples. Dashboards that use them still open when the switch is off.
Choose Publish and a dashboard gets a private link on tenun.cloud. Tenun builds it on your computer and sends only the results. The cloud never connects to your files or databases, and never sees a password.
tenun agent keeps it going on a computer that stays on.Version 0.3.0. Free and open source.
The apps are not code-signed yet. On macOS, right-click the app and choose Open the first time. On Windows, choose More info, then Run anyway.
